Emergency care: self help tips and advice before your emergency appointment

Fortunately, it’s rare that there is an emergency with the braces made possible by Dr. Wu and the team at Wu Orthodontics. Our investment in the latest techniques and most revolutionary dental appliances makes damage and repairs a thing of the past.

However, if you do find that there’s a problem, we will of course do all we can to see you as soon as possible.

Self help tips and advice for minimizing discomfort

If your problem begins out of hours or on the weekend, there are some things you can do yourself to remedy the issue. If you’re using braces with a wire that’s causing a problem, you can sometimes use a strong nail clipper to trim the part of the wire irritating you. If it’s not too long before you can come in and see Dr. Wu, you could use wax or a soft cotton to cover the wire. You can also bend wire out of the way if it’s causing problems with something blunt like a Q tip or the eraser end of a pencil.

Please schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience if you’ve had to take action to alleviate discomfort. Leaving your appliance without repair will affect your treatment time.

If you are experiencing severe pain please call Dr. Wu as soon as you can at (650) 322-0288.
